Overview
The range is part of the Stevens Creek County Park in the hills above Cupertino, CA and is open to the public every day from sunrise until sunset. You do not need to be a club member to use the range on most days, but the range is closed during club events to the extent that you must register, sign a liability waiver and pay a fee to use the range during these events. Membership provides the funds that Bowhunters Unlimited uses to maintain the range and host events, and gets you reduced event fees and other benefits. Click on the Membership link on the left or HERE to learn more about becoming a member.
What is at the range
As you enter the range, the main parking lot brings you to the practice range and shade shelter. The practice range has targets out to 70 yards. The targets are bales, usually with paper or cardboard targets.
The shade shelter has picnic tables and benches and the club bulletin board, which has various notices and pictures. The rules for using the range, membership applications, and range maps can usually be found in the shade shelter area.
Lessons are given near the practice range and shade shelter. Click on the Archery Lessons link on the left or HERE to learn more about the various, including free, archery lessons offered at the range. Also click on the Event Calendar link on the left to learn about shoots and educational events held at the range.
As you face the practice range, the hill behind has three to five targets along a portion of the field trail. Each of these targets, along with the remaining two dozen or more targets on the trail alongside and behind the practice range, consist of a target house containing a stack of bales with two dimensional targets. During club shoots (tournaments), life-size three dimensional targets are place generally near the target houses. See the Range Map for the location of the practice range and targets along the course.
